Prague: bridges, castles and viewpoints worth an early start

Prague has a spectacular and heavily visited historic centre. Starting early and choosing alternative viewpoints lets you see it more calmly.
Charles Bridge at dawn
Crossing it first thing lets you see the statues and the river without crowds. It is one of the best photos of the city.

Prague Castle and Malá Strana
The castle complex is huge: set aside a few hours. Then walk down through Malá Strana, with quiet streets and gardens.
Old Town and Josefov
The Old Town Square and its astronomical clock fill up in the middle of the day. The Jewish Quarter of Josefov brings together synagogues and an old cemetery.
Alternative viewpoints
Letná Park and Petřín Hill offer views of the city with fewer people than the most famous spots.
